Keeping your home’s windows clean is not only important for curb appeal but also for energy efficiency. Alside Mezzo Windows come with a fantastic feature called the tilt-in cleaning, making window care easier than ever. In this post, we will look at how to use this feature effectively, ensuring your windows stay spotless and your home remains welcoming.
Why Tilt-In Matters
Alside Mezzo double-hung windows come with a built-in tilt-in feature that lets both sashes swing inwards for quick, safe access to the outside glass. This not only saves time but also means you won’t need to climb ladders or brave Utah’s unpredictable weather just to keep your windows clean

Step-by-Step: Cleaning Your Mezzo Windows
1. Prepare the Window
Unlock your window and raise the lower sash at least 3 inches from the sill so you can access the tilt latches comfortably.
2. Tilt In the Lower Sash
Locate the tilt latch buttons on the top rail of the lower sash. With one hand on each side, pull both tilt latches toward the center to release them from the frame. Carefully pull the top of the sash toward you until it tilts beyond a 90° angle. Hold and support the sash while cleaning the exterior surface from inside your home.

3. Tilt In the Upper Sash
If you also want to clean the upper sash, lower it about 2 inches above the sash stops. Release the tilt latches on the upper sash as before, then gently tilt it toward you. The upper sash will rest on top of the already-tilted lower sash. Always support both sashes during cleaning.
4. Clean Both Exterior and Interior Glass
Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth and standard glass cleaner for the glass. For vinyl frames, a mild non-abrasive spray is best.
5. Return Sashes to Operating Position
When finished, hold the sash firmly with both hands and guide it back into the frame, making sure the tilt latch buttons re-engage and “click” back into place. Always reset the upper sash first, then the lower sash.
Tips and Best Practices
Always use both hands to support the sashes while they’re tilted in.
Double-check that each sash is fully latched before locking and operating your window.
Never use oil-based lubricants or abrasive cleaners on your Mezzo windows.
Avoid using high-pressure hoses or installing window AC units without proper support in vinyl windows.
